Not for APHW<\/h3>\n<p>The weekend has to be the worst time for something to break down. Everything\u2019s closed! You\u2019re looking down a long dark tunnel to Monday\u2026 until you realize America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) might be able to help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe lived in the house for about 2 months when the water heater started leaking,\u201d said Fishers, Indiana resident Allan Howard. \u201cIt was terrible weather outside, plus we had our grandkids over for the weekend.\u201d Seriously bad timing.<\/p>\n<p>The house had come with a home warranty, so Allan called and spoke to a \u201cvery courteous gentleman\u201d who took his information and explained the process. \u201cHe was very helpful and patient in explaining everything to me,\u201d he said. \u201cHe was super!\u201d But Allan and his family were still new to the neighborhood and didn\u2019t know what contractor to call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe representative sent me a list of contractors who had done work in my area,\u201d Allan said, and promptly made a few calls. \u201cOn the second call I talked to someone who could get a contractor out to the house that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The contractor arrived, assessed the problem, and spoke with APHW customer service, who approved the claim. At that point it was getting late though, and the snow was getting worse\u2014the contractor told Allan that his boss wanted him off the roads and he had to leave (insert minor heart attack here). Kayla Purvis of Delaware, Ohio, worried about a high-pitched squealing noise it was making for about a week. Then she noticed a funny smell. It was time to call the warranty company.<\/p>\n<p>While most folks dread having to file a claim, Kayla already knew it would be a fast, easy process with America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW), because she\u2019d done it before. \u201cIt\u2019s been really great both times,\u201d Kayla said. She called, she filed her claim, and once her claim was approved, she sent in her receipt for reimbursement. \u201cIt\u2019s just been that easy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Kayla, the APHW customer service is more than just a \u2018give me the details\u2019 kind of experience. \u201cI feel like every customer service agent I\u2019ve talked to there has been extremely helpful, very kind, and understanding,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019ve all been top notch\u2014I literally tell everybody. One, you talk to a real person, and two, they\u2019re super-fast with everything. We\u2019ve been so happy!\u201d she exclaimed. Even Kayla\u2019s husband, who hates being on the phone, appreciated the customer service. \u201cHe was like, \u2018Yeah, this is easy enough,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing her own contractor was a welcome convenience. \u201cWe wanted to find someone who would do it, but not be outrageous,\u201d Kayla said, referring to the cost of the contracted service. \u201cThey\u2019ve done great work, and they were local, and easy to deal with. Once we explained the [APHW] process, he was like, \u2018Oh yeah, I\u2019ve done those before.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kayla exclaimed her happiness in a Google review. \u201cThey have made home repairs so painless!\u201d she wrote. She was tentative on calling the warranty company, however, because the warranty had come with the purchase of the house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never know what exactly the previous homeowners purchased,\u201d Paula said. \u201cI was concerned, honestly. We didn\u2019t know what we had for help, or if we had coverage for the leak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It turned out Paula really didn\u2019t have anything to worry about. \u201cI explained what happened, I got a contractor, and after we got it approved he did the work, and we just submitted our receipt. It was a pretty smooth process,\u201d Paula said.<\/p>\n<p>The customer service was a satisfying experience, too. \u201cEverybody was pleasant and gave me all the information I needed. I was also first in line and didn\u2019t have to wait or anything. It was great!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paula has every intention of renewing the warranty when it expires in May. \u201cIt\u2019s worth it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was easy to file the claim and get it processed. Kathy Kincaid\u2019s real estate agent suggested they add an America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) to their purchase in Fort Wayne, Indiana, just in case. \u201cA few of the appliances were original to the home,\u201d Kathy said, and only a few months later, her 25-year-old furnace went on the fritz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heater had started fluctuating, and sometimes it just completely stopped working,\u201d Kathy said. Once she had filed her claim, Kathy reached out to the technician who had checked out the furnace during her home inspection. It wasn\u2019t good news\u2014the contractor advised that fixing it was out of the question. \u201cThey don\u2019t even make the modification kits needed for my kind of furnace anymore,\u201d Kathy said.<\/p>\n<p>Kathy called APHW back with the technician, thinking she might be out of luck. \u201cI\u2019m the type that if I don\u2019t have bad luck, I don\u2019t have luck at all,\u201d she joked, then went on to say how great the experience became. \u201cThey said they could still provide coverage, and I could use it toward a new furnace, which I\u2019d rather have anyway. I have never worked with a company that has been so nice, so professional, and so fast!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was hard for Kathy to believe just how fast and easy the whole process was. \u201cI had the heating people come back within two days, they were in and out within a few hours, and I think I waited until the following Wednesday\u2014there was already a check in the mail!\u201d she exclaimed. \u201cI mean most places, if you actually do get a check, it takes two or three months. On the last go-around, there were some serious problems with the quality of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey sent out the same contractor like five times,\u201d Alyssa said, \u201cand they not only didn\u2019t fix the issue, but created more issues. That\u2019s one of the big reasons I went with America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW), because you could choose your own contractor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About a month after closing on her home, Alyssa\u2019s garage door broke down, and it was time to see if APHW lived up to its high review rating on HomeWarrantyReviews.com, which is where she discovered the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called up America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty, and I didn\u2019t hardly have to hold at all. Then I found a contractor on Yelp, and he was able to come out that same day,\u201d Alyssa said, adding that after the contractor spoke with APHW, they not only approved the claim, but approved a second claim for something else he noticed.<\/p>\n<p>Alyssa was able to pay her contractor in full with her credit card, on the promise that APHW would send her reimbursement in the mail. \u201c[The contractor] sent me an invoice, which I forwarded on,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd my reimbursement arrived exactly when they said it was going to!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithin the couple of months that I\u2019ve had my house now, what the home warranty company has covered has actually reimbursed me for the whole year,\u201d Alyssa enthused. \u201cI\u2019m actually planning to renew, now, when I hadn\u2019t planned to. I\u2019m so happy I chose this company!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ht-cccc-m\"> \u00a0 <\/span><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-216\" src=\"http:\/\/aphw-remax.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Customer-Changes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aphw.house\/exit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Customer-Changes.jpg 778w, https:\/\/aphw.house\/exit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Customer-Changes-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aphw.house\/exit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Customer-Changes-768x401.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Customer Changes Cautious Contractor\u2019s Mind<\/h3>\n<p>In a Google review of America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW), Steve Sedahl out of Apex, North Carolina, wrote, \u201cThe best reviews come from the contractors I\u2019ve hired to do repairs.\u201d We were inspired to do some digging to find out what he meant.<\/p>\n<p>Steve has made several claims with APHW, each of which was a quick and easy process on the phone. \u201cThe couple of times that I\u2019ve called, I haven\u2019t had to wait very long to talk to somebody, and they\u2019ve been super helpful\u2014really going into detail,\u201d Steve said. \u201cThey clearly know what they are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His latest claim involved a 19-year-old air conditioner. When his contractor advised it was beyond saving, Steve knew his warranty wouldn\u2019t cover a complete system, he said. But APHW still approved a healthy amount toward a replacement, \u201cWhich I thought was great!\u201d he exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>Steve was used to an easy process by now, but his contractor hadn\u2019t worked with an America\u2019s Preferred Home Warranty before and was clearly skeptical. \u201cWhen I talked with [the contractor] and said this was a home warranty, the guy just went, \u2018Oh, okay.\u2019 Obviously, they\u2019d had bad experiences with other home warranties before,\u201d Steve said. \u201cBut once they had their initial conversation with APHW customer service, he said, \u2018Those guys are really good. That was as easy as it\u2019s ever been to do a warranty job! Sometimes they\u2019re just awful and rude, but this was a pleasant experience.\u2019 He was really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having the ability to choose his own contractor is a definite perk for Steve. \u201cI like the freedom to call whoever I want,\u201d he said. \u201cI think I stumbled into a pretty good company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Steve plans to renew his home warranty again in the future. \u201cThe first year the previous owners paid for our warranty. When it came around last year, I was like, \u2018No-brainer,\u2019 and renewed it. Obviously, I\u2019m going to do it again this year. It just makes sense,\u201d Steve said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know when you\u2019re looking at a house, it\u2019s inevitable you\u2019re going to have some trouble\u2014that\u2019s why you have the warranty. If something goes wrong, you get some help.
